Our full, current pricing always lives at westhillsdogsitter.com/services-and-rates — this post is meant to walk you through how to actually use those numbers.
What a Dog Walk Costs
A standard dog walk with West Hills Dog Sitter is $42 for a 35-minute visit. That includes the walk itself plus a drop-in — meaning we’re not just taking your dog around the block and leaving. During that same visit we provide fresh water, feed your dog if needed, clean up, and give them attention and affection. Every walk is GPS tracked through our app, so you can see exactly where your dog went, and you’ll get a message and photos afterward.
Drop-In Pet Sitting Rates
Not every visit needs to be a walk — sometimes you just need someone checking in, feeding, administering medication, or scooping a litter box. Drop-in visits are priced by length of time, not by the number of pets:
● 15-minute drop-in: $30
● 35-minute drop-in: $42
● 65-minute drop-in: $62
● Longer visits are available as well
That per-visit pricing structure matters more than it might seem. If you have one dog and one cat, or three cats, or two dogs, you pay the same rate as a single-pet household for that visit —because it’s a timed service, not a per-animal one. For multi-pet homes, this often makes drop-ins meaningfully more cost-effective than services that charge per animal.
What’s Actually Included (No Surprise Fees)
This is where a lot of pet care pricing gets murky elsewhere — extra charges for medication, “difficult” pets, senior dogs, or add-on requests. We build all of that into the base price instead. At every price point above, the following are included at no additional cost:
● Administering medication
● Extra attention for senior or special-needs pets
● Feeding, fresh water, and cleaning up after your pets
● Cleaning litter boxes
● Bringing in mail and packages
● Taking trash cans out or in
● Most other reasonable requests

The Meet & Greet
Before your first booking, we schedule a paid meet & greet for $25. This isn’t a sales pitch — it’s a working meeting where we learn your pet’s routine, feeding schedule, medication needs, sleeping arrangements, and any quirks we should know about, and you get to see how we interact with your animals before committing to anything. For dog walks and drop-ins, this happens at your home; for boarding or daycare, it happens at ours.
Holiday Pricing
Rates increase by 50% during holiday periods. We flag this upfront rather than burying it, because we know holidays are exactly when most people are booking care and don’t want a surprise on the invoice. Even with the surcharge, there are still no hidden add-ons layered on top — the increase is the only change.
How West Hills & Bell Canyon Pricing Compares
If you’ve shopped around on marketplace platforms, you’ve probably seen a wide range of quotes. Nationally, typical dog walking rates run in the neighborhood of $20 to $35 for a 30-minute walk, with sitters on marketplace apps in the West Hills area often averaging closer to the low-to-mid $20s per visit. The catch with marketplace pricing is that it usually reflects a single sitter’s solo rate before booking fees are added, and quality, insurance, and background checks vary enormously from one independent sitter to the next.
We price a bit higher than the rock-bottom end of that range because every visit includes GPS tracking, photo and message updates, medication administration at no extra charge, and a sitter who is insured, bonded, federally background checked, Fear Free certified, and Pet CPR/First Aid trained. You’re not just paying for someone to open your door — you’re paying for consistency and accountability on every single visit.
Estimating Your Total Cost
A few common scenarios, using current rates:
● One dog, daily 35-minute walk, 5 days a week: 5 × $42 = $210/week
● One dog and one cat, single 35-minute drop-in per day while you’re away for a week: 7 × $42 = $294 for the week
● Two cats, one 15-minute drop-in per day for a long weekend (4 days): 4 × $30 = $120
● One dog with morning and evening drop-ins on a travel day: one 65-minute visit ($62) + one 35-minute visit ($42) = $104/day
Because pricing is per visit rather than per pet, your actual cost depends far more on how many visits you need and how long each one runs than on how many animals you have.

Which Service Do You Actually Need?
If you’re weighing whether a quick walk, a longer drop-in, or full boarding makes more sense for your pets, we’ve written a full breakdown in our post on choosing between in-home boarding and drop-in visits — it walks through exactly how to think about the decision based on your pet’s temperament and your home situation.
